It’s been long that I’ve put up something here. Try as I may, am not able to sleep coz the incident in the morning keep coming back to me. I thought I would share it with you here.
The hot tin roof of the Mumbai locals does not seem so hot these days. So the temperature within the compartment seemed quite pleasant this Monday morning. No flare ups, no bad tantrums, no glaring looks, when being pushed. It was a regular Monday morning travel for the regulars and a comfortable one for someone like me who could manage to jostle his way to the far end of the compartment cabinet where the huge rows of seats are.
What caught my attention is the cheerfulness of the entire “gang” (as these folks like to be referred) in their early 40’s. This gang of young boys had jokes and comments that would put young happening teenagers to shame.
I was amazed when the breakfast boxes came out and the Muslim fellow was really happy that “Sawaiyaan” came out. Of course, the box did not belong to him. And the group did not seem to have any other muslim gang member. It turned out that the tiffin box was a special treat for this Muslim friend from the house of a Saraswat Brahmin with a special message of “ID Mubarak”; from the Brahmins wife. The message was more clear than the content. I was awestruck the whole route and just stood their thru the whole journey thinking , “what my religion” and this is what I really mean when I say “Incredible India”..
I bow thee…
